Cupra will officially unveil its highly anticipated Raval electric vehicle on April 9th, with pricing expected to start around £23,000 in the UK. The car, previewed earlier in uncamouflaged prototype form during winter testing in Scandinavia, closely resembles the original UrbanRebel concept – suggesting Cupra is committed to a striking, aggressive design language.
Design and Key Features
The Raval retains several key elements from the concept, including its distinctive triangular headlights, sharply angled roofline, and unique split C-pillar design. While broadly similar to the concept, the production version appears slightly longer and features a more conventional rear light bar. The rear end incorporates a bold diffuser-style treatment, visible even under testing conditions. The exact wheel size for base models remains unclear, as prototypes were fitted with smaller wheels for winter traction.
Technical Specifications
The Raval is built on Volkswagen Group’s MEB+ electric platform – a newer iteration also used in the ID Polo, ID Cross, and Skoda Epiq. This means it will feature a single front-mounted motor and an underfloor battery pack. Two battery options will be available: a smaller 38 kWh pack, and a larger 56 kWh pack providing approximately 280 miles of range.
Performance Variants
Cupra will offer multiple performance levels. The top-tier VZ model, already tested by Autocar, boasts a 223 bhp motor, a limited-slip differential, and tuned adaptive suspension for enhanced handling. A slightly less powerful 208 bhp variant will also be available without the limited-slip differential.
