2027 Corvette Stingray Upgraded with New 535-HP V8 Engine

6

The 2027 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray will receive a significant performance boost with the introduction of the automaker’s new 6.7-liter LS6 V8 engine. This upgrade positions the base Stingray as a more formidable competitor, delivering increased power and refinement.

Engine Specifications and Performance Gains

The LS6 engine generates 535 horsepower and 520 pound-feet of torque, a substantial increase over the previous 6.2-liter V8, which produced up to 495 hp and 470 lb-ft. This makes it the most powerful standard engine ever offered on a Corvette. Key features of the LS6 include:

  • A high 13.0:1 compression ratio for optimized combustion
  • A 95-millimeter throttle body for enhanced airflow
  • A “tunnel ram intake” design for improved efficiency
  • Forged pistons and connecting rods for increased durability
  • An updated lubrication system for reliable performance

Additional Updates for 2027

Beyond the engine upgrade, Chevrolet has refined the Stingray with several other improvements:

  • Magnetic Ride Control: Updated software enhances the car’s handling characteristics.
  • ZR1 Performance Pack: Those opting for this package will benefit from a shorter 5.56:1 final drive ratio for quicker acceleration, along with revised aerodynamics and new Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 tires.

Pricing and Availability

The 2026 Corvette Stingray currently starts at $72,495 (including destination charges). The 2027 model is expected to have a slight price increase, potentially bringing the starting price closer to $75,000. The updated Corvette is slated to go on sale this summer.

This marks the first major update to the C8 Corvette Stingray since its release. The introduction of over 500 horsepower sets a new standard for the lineup, and it will be interesting to see how this affects the positioning of other Corvette models.
