Stellantis electric vehicle (EV) owners can now utilize Tesla’s Supercharger network across North America, following the company’s long-awaited adoption of the North American Charging Standard (NACS). However, access isn’t entirely seamless; current owners will need to purchase a $230 adapter to plug into Tesla stations.
Adapter Details and Compatibility
The required adapter, sold through Stellantis’ Mopar parts division and certified dealerships, costs $230 online or $250 at a physical location. It is compatible with Tesla’s V3 and V4 Superchargers. Some EVs can still use Tesla’s Magic Dock chargers, which feature a built-in adapter.
Eligible Models
The adapter is needed for the following Stellantis EVs:
- 2024-2026 Dodge Charger Daytona
- 2024-2025 Jeep Wagoneer S
- 2024-2026 Ram ProMaster EV
- 2024-2026 Fiat 500e
- 2024-2026 Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio Folgore
- 2025-2026 Maserati Grecale Folgore
- Upcoming 2026 Jeep Recon
Native NACS Integration Delayed
Despite the immediate adapter workaround, no current Stellantis EV model comes standard with the NACS connector. The first vehicle to natively integrate the Tesla-developed connector, eliminating the need for an adapter, will be the 2027 Dodge Charger Daytona. Stellantis hasn’t provided a firm release timeline for this model.
Charging Through the Free2move Charge App
Owners can locate Tesla Superchargers and other charging stations through the Free2move Charge app. This app aggregates Tesla locations with available AC and DC fast-charging options across North America.
The rollout highlights a transitional phase in EV charging standards, where automakers are adapting to Tesla’s dominant NACS infrastructure. While access is now available, the extra cost and inconvenience of an adapter for existing owners underscores the industry’s shift toward a unified charging standard.
