Ford Extends Puma Gen-E Range, Adds Hands-Free Driving

4

Ford has updated its fully electric Puma Gen-E for 2026, focusing on increased range and advanced driver-assistance features. The key improvement is a revised WLTP range of 400 km (249 miles), a 24 km (15 mile) increase over the previous model. In urban driving conditions, the 2026 Puma Gen-E can now achieve up to 550 km (342 miles) on a single charge.

Range and Efficiency

The extended range is achieved through an “optimised battery design,” while maintaining the same 43 kWh battery capacity. It remains unclear whether this figure applies to all trim levels, including the base model with 17-inch wheels and the higher-spec Premium version with 18-inch alloys. The electric motor continues to deliver 166 hp (124 kW) and 290 Nm (214 lb-ft) of torque, driving the front wheels.

This 400 km WLTP rating positions the Puma Gen-E competitively within its segment, aligning with rivals such as the Alfa Romeo Junior Elettrica, Jeep Avenger, Fiat 600e, Opel Mokka Electric, Peugeot E-2008, Renault 4 E-Tech, and Mini Aceman. However, it still lags behind the Kia EV3 Long Range, which boasts up to 604 km (375 miles) on the same cycle.

BlueCruise Hands-Free Driving

From spring 2026, the Puma Gen-E will offer Ford’s BlueCruise system as part of an optional Driver Assistance Pack. This technology enables hands-free highway driving, gradually expanding across Ford’s European lineup, including the Kuga and Ranger PHEV. Since its European debut in 2023, BlueCruise has expanded to 16 markets, covering over 135,000 km (84,000 miles) of approved highways.

No Visual Changes

The 2026 Puma Gen-E retains the exterior styling of the facelifted mild-hybrid version, including the grille-less front design. The interior remains unchanged, featuring a 12.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12-inch infotainment screen, and the innovative “Gigabox” storage compartment under the boot. Cargo capacity remains at 574 liters (20.3 cubic feet) in the rear and an additional 43 liters (1.5 cubic feet) in the frunk.

Pricing and Availability

The 2026 Ford Puma Gen-E is now available for order in the UK, starting at £26,245 ($34,500). This price remains consistent with the current model, though updated local incentives may apply.

The updates to the Puma Gen-E focus on enhancing practicality and driver convenience rather than radical redesigns. By increasing the range and adding hands-free driving capabilities, Ford aims to make its compact EV more competitive in a rapidly evolving market
