Sharper Styling and New Lighting Signature
The most noticeable change will likely be a redesigned front grille featuring a prominent, illuminated Peugeot badge. More significantly, the 408 is expected to ditch its signature fang-like daytime running lights in favor of the sleeker, more modern “three-claw” design already seen on the 308. These new light strips offer a cleaner, more integrated aesthetic while still retaining Peugeot’s recognizable light signature.
Minor adjustments will likely extend to reshaped bumpers, updated wheel designs, and potentially revised rear light clusters. The interior is expected to remain largely unchanged, though higher trim levels may receive upgraded display graphics and additional luxury features.
Powertrain Updates and Electric Range Boost
The 408’s engine options will probably follow the 308’s lead, retaining the base 143bhp 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The plug-in hybrid version will continue to offer 193bhp and approximately 50 miles of electric range.
Notably, the all-electric E-408 may receive a larger battery pack, potentially increasing its range from the current 280 miles to around 300 miles. This aligns with the improvements made to the E-308, suggesting Peugeot is prioritizing increased electric vehicle performance.
