SGMW and Huawei Unveil the Huajing S: A New Flagship Plug-in Hybrid SUV

7

SGMW has officially opened blind pre-orders for its latest flagship, the Huajing S, a large six-seat plug-in hybrid SUV. Unveiled during a technology preview on April 7, this model represents the first major product resulting from the deepened strategic partnership between SGMW and Huawei.

This launch is a significant milestone in Huawei’s expanding automotive ecosystem. While Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) consists of five brands, the “Three Jings” represent its specific collaborative ventures: Yijing (with Dongfeng), Qijing (with GAC), and now Huajing (with SGMW). This tiered branding strategy allows Huawei to scale its advanced software and hardware across different manufacturing partners.

Design and Dimensions

The Huajing S adopts a modern, wide-profile aesthetic. Its exterior is defined by a “star-ring” through-type light cluster and a closed front grille, signaling its identity as a New Energy Vehicle (NEV).

Key Specifications:
Length: 5,235 mm
Width: 1,999 mm
Height: 1,800 mm
Wheelbase: 3,105 mm

In a departure from the “hidden” door handles frequently seen in modern EVs, the Huajing S retains conventional mechanical handles, prioritizing tactile familiarity and ease of use. The vehicle is available in four colors: Ink Jade Black, Mutton Fat White, Agate Gray, and Amber Blue.

Interior Comfort and Versatility

The cabin is designed around a premium 2+2+2 six-seat layout, focusing on passenger comfort and high-tech utility.

  • Technology Integration: The interior features a wraparound design with a full LCD instrument cluster and a floating central control screen.
  • Passenger Amenities: The second row includes independent seats with foldable side tables, while a ceiling-mounted screen enhances the experience for rear passengers. A “boss key” is also provided to allow the driver to easily move the front passenger seat.
  • Storage: When the third row is folded, the vehicle offers a substantial cargo capacity of 1,268L.
  • Aesthetics: Interior color palettes include Sandalwood Brown and Ivory Beige.

Advanced Intelligent Systems

The Huajing S is a showcase for Huawei’s specialized automotive technology suite. The vehicle integrates several proprietary systems to bridge the gap between driving and digital living:

  • Huawei Qiankun: The intelligent driving system.
  • HarmonyOS: The intelligent cabin operating system.
  • Huawei iVCS: The vehicle cloud platform.
  • Limera Technology: A laser-vision cabin system.

A standout feature is the all-solid-state LiDAR architecture. By integrating the LiDAR compactly within the cabin, Huawei has improved both the vehicle’s aesthetics and ease of maintenance. This architecture utilizes a laser-visual co-optical design to achieve “zero-latency” data fusion. This technical leap results in a 43% improvement in detection distance for small objects (roughly 30cm), significantly enhancing safety during urban navigation.

Performance and Powertrain

The SUV is powered by the Lingxi Power 3.0 plug-in hybrid system, which pairs a 1.5T engine with high-performance electric motors.

Feature Specification
Engine Max Power 105 kW
Combined Max Power 386 kW (518 hp)
Max Torque 620 N·m
Battery Options 31 kWh or 41.9 kWh
Pure Electric Range 130 km to 175 km (depending on config)

To ensure a smooth ride, the chassis utilizes a front double-wishbone and rear multi-link architecture, supplemented by electronically controlled continuous variable damping shock absorbers.

The Huajing S marks a sophisticated fusion of SGMW’s manufacturing scale and Huawei’s cutting-edge digital intelligence, aiming to set a new standard for high-tech family SUVs.

The Huajing S is expected to officially hit the market in the first half of 2026.
