The Zeekr X, an electric SUV from the Chinese automaker, is set to arrive in Australia with significant upgrades in May 2026. The updates include styling revisions, more powerful motors, increased equipment levels, and faster charging capabilities. While precise pricing remains undisclosed until the Melbourne Motor Show next week, Zeekr has hinted at a starting price of “under $50,000 drive-away” for the rear-wheel drive (RWD) model and “under $60,000 drive-away” for the all-wheel drive (AWD) variant.

Exterior and Interior Refinements

The 2026 Zeekr X introduces new exterior color options, including Khaki Green matte (exclusive to AWD models) and Onyx Black. AWD variants also gain 20-inch black alloy wheels and optional automatic doors.

Inside, the vehicle gets heated front and rear seats, massaging front seats (AWD only), and an integrated refrigerator under the front-center armrest (also AWD exclusive). A touch-capacitive steering wheel and a 13-speaker Yamaha surround sound system have been added. The interior is now standard in grey, with white as an option for both models. The AWD version uniquely offers a black interior with red seatbelts.

Performance and Charging Enhancements

Both RWD and AWD versions of the Zeekr X receive powertrain and battery upgrades, resulting in increased power and faster charging speeds. The RWD now delivers 250kW from its rear motor, while the AWD boasts a combined 365kW from its dual-motor setup (115kW front, 250kW rear). These represent a 50kW increase across the board.

Zeekr claims the updated RWD model can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds, while the AWD achieves an impressive 3.7 seconds. The brand asserts that these acceleration figures are “best in class.”

Battery Technology and Range

The 2026 Zeekr X RWD incorporates Zeekr’s new ‘Golden Battery’ technology, utilizing a 61kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with a Cell-to-Pack (CFP) architecture borrowed from the larger 7X model. This battery has been optimized for faster charging, improved safety, and better thermal stability. The RWD can now charge at up to 230kW using a DC fast charger (up from 150kW), reducing the 10-80% charge time to approximately 18 minutes. The AWD retains its 150kW DC charging capability with a nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) lithium-ion battery.

AC charging has also been improved, with the RWD now supporting 11kW (from 7.2kW) and the AWD doubling to 22kW (from 11kW).

The updated WLTP range for the RWD is 405km, while the AWD achieves 415km. The previous ADR (NEDC) ratings were 540km for the RWD and 470km for the AWD.

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems

All Zeekr X models now include the new Zeekr AD driver assistance suite, featuring five HD cameras, five millimeter-wave radar sensors, twelve ultrasonic sensors, and Remote Parking Assist for urban environments.

Full pricing and specifications will be revealed at the 2026 Melbourne Motor Show on April 10.

The Zeekr X’s updates position it as a competitive EV option in the Australian market, offering improved performance, faster charging, and a more refined interior. The choice of RWD or AWD, along with the exclusive features available on the AWD model, gives buyers options tailored to their needs and preferences.
